Amy graduated from the University of Iowa and is certified in Aging Studies. She has been a certified addictions counselor since 2008.  Amy obtained her Masters degree with a focus on Trauma at UNI.     She is also an instructor for OWI Courses.

Although Amy's life had previously been dedicated to our older population,  their families and those needing assistance navigating the aging network for the last 20+ years in the Long Term Care setting, she has  also  been dedicated to helping those afflicted with addiction since 2008.     Some of the populations that Amy has worked with includes  those  in the LGBTQ+ community, older adults, college students, professionals and court-involved individuals who battle addiction, and celebrate their recovery.  Recently, she has started working more with women in mid-life transitions and those who struggle with  prenatal and postpartum drug use.

She also has joined the team of amazing therapists at Full Circle Therapy Services out of Council Bluffs  providing Mental Health/Wellness services remotely via telehealth throughout the State and  recently in person in Waterloo.

Amy is married to Dr. Bonebrake, a well-known family practice and addiction medicine physician in the area.   She has two adult sons, a son-in-law and a step son.  Amy recently embarked on a solo  two -week long soul -searching  journey to the West Coast and back with her dog Zoni
